We've got some news we're rather proud of.
Following an independent quality assessment, BrynEscape has been awarded a 4-Star Self-Catering grade by Visit Wales — the official tourism body for Wales. It's a recognition we've quietly been working towards since the day we took the cottage on, and to have it confirmed by an expert assessor means the world to us.
What does a 4-Star grade actually mean?
Visit Wales grading isn't a review or a popularity score — it's a rigorous, in-person inspection against the UK-wide quality standards used by Visit Wales, VisitScotland and VisitEngland alike. An assessor visits in person and scores everything: cleanliness, comfort, the quality of the beds and furnishings, the kitchen, the bathroom, the little personal touches, even the first impression as you arrive.
A 4-Star grade means very good quality throughout — a consistently high standard across every part of your stay. For you, it's a simple promise: independent reassurance that when you book BrynEscape, you're booking somewhere that's been checked, graded and genuinely cared for.
The things we were quietly proud to see noted
We won't list every score, but a few comments from the report made us smile: a warm welcome and thoughtful pre-arrival information, a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need for four, the cosy open-plan living space with its log burner, and — our favourite — "a well presented and cosy property in a lovely, quiet location."
That quiet location, tucked beneath the mountains in Tanygrisiau, is the whole reason we fell for this place. It's lovely to have it recognised.
A thank you to our guests
Here's the honest truth: a grade like this isn't really about a certificate on the wall. It's about the experience we want every guest to have — arriving to a warm, spotless, welcoming home, and leaving already planning the next visit.
So to everyone who has stayed, left a kind word, or simply trusted us with their holiday: thank you. You're the reason we do this, and the reason we keep raising the bar.
Come and experience it for yourself
Whether you're here to climb the mountains, chase waterfalls, ride the Ffestiniog Railway or simply sit in the garden and watch the mist roll over the Moelwyn, we'd love to welcome you to our 4-Star corner of Eryri.
